I had an opportunity to be blessed by God and make a day of life meaning ful.
It is a real blessing to understand the need of our service to the old age Home.
>>How I got introduced<<
I was introduced to the Home by Mr.Muller David Jackob(Treasurer)
before 4 years, at the time of construction of Home.
I had the immense pleasure to organize a lunch for 30 inmates which
cost around 1,200/- and celebrated our 12th wedding day with their
blessings. One of my friend organized 5 dothies and 3 shirt bits which
is acknowledged by Home with much of gratitude.
>>About the home<<
A Christian Service society is helping the Old age people who are left
uncared.
It is situated in the Alagappan Nagar, Madurai. Opposite road to
Dhanvanthiri Junction have to turn two or three. Phone number is
0452-2692575.
Now the inmates are 26 female and 5 male. Out of that a 20 people are
much older and the rest are little old. But all are with enough
physique and are able to meet their personal needs of their own. Some
of them are with their skin whiteness (skin is losing its color).
They were all become inmates of the home because of some reasons like
(a) their children are not with good economy to meet their basic
needs, (b) lost their children (c) No children and no one to take care
(d) children are not interested to take care of this old people (e)
children are not having conducive situation because of their
employment constraints…. Etc.
The people are pleasant on the very nice and hygienic environment.
Four volunteers are spending their retired life to manage the home on
honorary basis. Everything is by volunteers only – No salaried
employee other than driver and cook. Those who are younger have to
serve for the older.
Mutual helping policy is driving.
“HelpAge India” a voluntary organization provided one Cow, which is
milking enough to the inmates and the surplus is being sold to
outsiders.
An ambulance is provided for the emergencies. This is being used also
for general purposes like collecting goods from Donors.
The home is designed in its 50 cents of land donated by Dr.Kennet.
Inside of the home itself a spacious Church is available for prayer.
A common dining hall, furnished reception, separate dormitory for men
and women, a prayer hall, a kitchen and enough vacant space is
provided. A green garden is maintained by the inmates.
A team of doctors are visiting for monthly checkups. Medicines are
sponsored by the blessed volunteers.
Moreover Home is registered under Societies Act and the accounts are
properly audited by Chartered Accountant.
Also Income Tax department recognized and allowing 80G benefits to the
donors.
What others are doing? How the society is helping the home?
Some of blessed people are providing one lunch at their convenient in
any one of their blessed day like Wedding day, Birth day, in memory of
their elders like. Someone are sharing to celebrate their success.
Some of blessed people are providing groceries or vegetables or
Coconut like things to the extent they are able to give.
It is important to note all of these are at the convenient of the
people and not a regular one.
>>What we can do? How we can help the home?<<
It is so simple. Not that much expensive. It is a cost of cinema
ticketor equivalent to two liter petrol per month or cost of a toy
that our child throws it away.
Yes. While buying groceries to our family, let us buy any one of the
item given below and give to the Home.
One single person need not spent a lot. A group of four persons are
agreeing to provide egg for every week end. Around 35 eggs will cost
of Rs.75. A will pay for first week, B will pay for next week, C will
pay for 3rd week and D will spent for 4th week. Then next week
comes. Like this a group can be formed.
Please to note, a person is spending only Rs.75 (Just more than 1 ltr
petrol) but the Home is getting egg for all week end days.
Anyone can ask their nearby shop keeper to supply at every week end
and payment can be made on a day of a month.
In case of any function or celebration in your home, tell (one day) in
advance to home then arrange to cook for more 30 people.
Home will make necessary arrangement to collect food from your home.
Only thing you have to tell in advance to Home and make a person
responsible(point of contact) to attend the person coming from Home.
Two kilo of wheat flour will help the Home for one day Chappathi.
One kilo of dhal will help for one time dish.
On the above all Home will pray the god to bless the Donor and the
inmates will bless whole heartedly.
>>How can I give my things to home?<<
In case of non-perishables, call the home 0452-2692575, tell your
address, they will send and collect at DONOR CONVENIENCE. In case of
perishables like excess vegetables on your function and celebration,
they will send and collect IMMEDIATELY.
This is possible only if Donor is in Madurai. In case of outsiders
either can depute any of their friends or relatives in Madurai to give
the kinds/articles. Otherwise can send their Cheque or DD to the
Home.
>>How does the Home recognize and how can I know what are all the helps availed<<
Home is circulating a hand out every month stating what are all given
by kind by whom on which date on which occasion. This hand out will be
given to you when they are collecting the things. If you want to keep
your name confidentially, then name will not be given in the hand out.
But the kind given will be printed.
>>Whether Income benefit is available under section 80G<<
If Donation is by Cash/Cheque, that will be acknowledged by printed
receipt. The Donation is eligible for deduction from Income (80G) and
consequently the tax burden will be reduced.
For donations by kind 80G is not eligible.

is where in condition. Home will take care for reconditioning/re-
painting.
